Group Visits

Welcoming groups, schools and tours to The Workhouse

KEEPING OUR HISTORY ALIVE

Why Your
Support Matters?

The Workhouse is a social non profit organisation. Donations help us maintain the heritage centre and support the ongoing care of our community play park, which is enjoyed by families and visitors throughout the year.

Every contribution, big or small, plays a role in preserving this historic site and keeping it welcoming, safe and accessible for everyone.

Who We Welcome

Group Tours at
The Workhouse

We regularly welcome a wide range of groups, from school tours and adult education groups to coach tours and community organisations. Each visit is approached with flexibility, allowing us to tailor the experience based on the age profile, interests and time available to the group.

If you are unsure whether your group is suitable, our team is happy to discuss options in advance.

A flexible visit experience

What to Expect

A group visit to The Workhouse typically centres around the Famine Exhibition and audio tour, with time to explore the wider site at a relaxed pace. Groups often combine their visit with time in the Craft Shop or Coffee Shop, and younger visitors can enjoy the community playpark where appropriate.

Visits can be structured to allow staggered entry, split groups or rest breaks, particularly for larger groups or mixed age ranges.

Educational Visits

Learning Through Local History

School and educational visits are supported by our Heritage and Education Officer. Content can be adapted to suit different age groups and learning objectives, with a focus on local history, the famine period and lived experience. Educational visits encourage discussion, reflection and engagement with primary stories connected to Dunfanaghy and the wider region.

Group Pricing

Group rates apply to groups of eight or more and are designed to keep visits accessible.

Exact pricing and availability can be confirmed at the time of enquiry.

Accessibility and Facilities

The Workhouse offers good accessibility across the site, including lift access to upper exhibition areas, ground floor facilities, toilets and nearby parking. Seating is available throughout the site and staff are happy to assist where needed.
If your group has specific accessibility or mobility requirements, please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
